The Shotgun Range plays host to Trap, Sporting Clays and Junior Shotgun matches. Some of the Sporting Clay Matches are held on the Lower (Rifle) Range.
Tired of plain
'ole Trap? You won't be here with the creative mix of doubles and
elimination rounds that have clays flying from all directions and
the competitors on their toes. The club has all kind of shoots
including some that will help you get ready for the next hunting
season.
Here is a line up
of the Sunday Morning Shoots: The first Sunday of each month is a
fun shoot. It may be trap or an Annie. It may be a chip shoot
where you try break a chip of the target broken by the person
shooting just ahead of you, or it could be whatever the person in
charge dreams up. We have two portable trap throwers that can be
moved to any place, so the possibilities and combinations are
endless!
The 2nd Sunday is
for straight trap at different yards and some doubles (two targets
are thrown at the same time). Also, there is a team shoot, having
two shooters with two shots each for three targets. Its a ball!
The 3rd Sunday we
have sporting clays. That's two targets at a time at ten different
stations followed by three rabbets (clays thrown at the ground,
rolling and bouncing). This match is shot on the Lower (Rifle)
Range.
The 4th Sunday we
are trying some thing new; 100 targets straight trap. This will
include 50 targets at 16 yards and 50 targets at a handicap.
The Monday Morning
Shotgun Shoots are similar, but may not follow the same rotation of
events. Check the Calendar if you want to verify the sporting clay
event. In July, a Thursday evening Shotgun shoot is also planned
each week. There is an organized Junior Shotgun Shoot once a month.
As you can see,
there are all kinds of shooting for everyone. Come on out! This
is for kids, women and men of all ages and abilities. Let the
Shotgun Games Begin!
